Original Purpose Of The Rehearsal
These numbers were professionally taped rehearsals for Lee's albums on Polydor. (See Studio Sessions, March 1977.) Like the London Palladium concert that took place on March 20, 1977 these rehearsal numbers are co-owned by producer Ken Barnes and by the estate of Peggy Lee.

Personnel And Issues
1. Augmented Backing
As shown above, only a rhythm session accompanied Peggy Lee during the rehearsals. At a more recent time, when producer Barnes decided to release these numbers, further instrumental backing was overdubbed or added to the original instrumentation.
2. The New Collection (CD)
The booklet of Carlton CD 3060 01222 contains a photo whose caption reads: "Musical director Pete Moore ... with Peggy Lee and producer Ken Barnes, during the 1982 studio sessions for The New Collection." Mr. Barnes has explained to me that the dating in that caption is erroneous, as are other details and features of this CD. (Such inaccuracies are among the reasons why Barnes was highly displeased with the work done on this disc, which was quickly withdrawn from the market.)
